The Boxes
Group Supplies Premier Packaging for First Class Continental Favourite
A Welsh family business is increasing the country’s appetite for a
luxurious range of continental-style waffles with help from two
divisions of The Boxes Group which specialise in innovative cartons
and labels.
Tregoes Waffle Bakery, which began business in an old shop in the
village of Tregoes 18 years ago, is producing three types of waffle -
Toffee, Toffee-Coated in Belgian Dark Chocolate and Toffee-Coated Full
Cream Milk Chocolate. The chocolate waffles are individually packed
and the toffee, in packs of two, and also shrink-wrapped in a pack of
eight.
Boxes Group division Ditone Labels is supplying a 5 colour label
printed on white semigloss paper perm to match a die cut wrap around
sleeve from Boxes Edson, printed in six colours on 350 grease
resistant board which is barrier-coated. The waffles are flow-wrapped
in plastic on site.
Tregoes Waffle Bakery MD, Kees Huysmann, said: “Ditone Labels and
Boxes Edson have done an excellent job for us, providing us with first
class labels and carton sleeves to mirror the high quality of our
product. The service has been entirely reliable, all our production
deadlines have been met and we have been given the best possible
customer service.”
The business originally started when the family began selling waffles
at shows and markets but interest from local shops soon escalated
production and demand meant a move to bigger premises in Llandysul in
1994. After a substantial investment in equipment, the Tregoes Waffle
Bakery now works with a team of 14 people, producing nearly 4,000
waffles an hour. Apart from supplying local supermarkets such as the
Co-op, Safeway, Sainsburys, Somerfield and Tesco’s, the Bakery also
sells in Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Fortnum & Mason and the
Bluebird Food Emporium.
David Stevenson, Managing Director of Ditone Labels said: “More and
more we are working in partnership with other divisions of The Boxes
Group to enhance our customers’ packaging in the most creative and
cost-effective way through our investment in an exceptional range of
print processes.”
