New
Carton for Twinings Produced by Boxes GH Causes A Stir
Twinings,
the global market leader in high quality speciality teas, has
introduced sophisticated new packaging produced by specialist
manufacturer Boxes GH for its fast growing business in Food Service
cartons.
The innovative new image - incorporating a two tone varnish effect -
has been launched to further enhance packs of Twinings 50 speciality
envelope wrapped tea bags - part of an extensive selection of food
service products by the company.
Twinings Group Purchasing Manager, Peter White, said: “Once we had
decided to update our Food Service speciality tea range, we entrusted
the project to Boxes GH because of the company¹s niche technical
expertise and experience to achieve the necessary quality standard and
supply within a specific time frame.
“As the Twinings 50 packs are used in various catering
establishments, in differing conditions, the finish on the cartons had
to be both attractive and functional. This meant using inks and
varnishes with special qualities and applied using the most up-to-date
printing and coating equipment.”
Boxes GH Managing Director, Phil Spencer, added: “Our brief was to
produce a high quality carton bringing out the wording “speciality
tea” on the black carton using a high gloss varnish set against a
low level varnish. It was imperative that the carton did not show up
finger prints and scuffing or adhere to the cellophane wrap. PIRA
tests were successfully completed to ensure conformity because the ink
to varnish register was highly critical. The work was produced using
UV inks and varnishes and printed on our state-of-the-art high speed
Roland 900 printing press - the first one of its kind commercially
available in the UK.”
Boxes GH, based in Blackburn, is one of seven specialist companies in
the Boxes Group and is a major producer of folding cartons for some of
the country¹s biggest brand name manufacturers of FMCG products.
The Company has been working with Twinings since the 1950s. In the
1960s, Twinings became part of Associated British Foods - a
multinational business with interests in agriculture, ingredients and
oils, grocery and retail and packaging. The Group is one of Europe¹s
largest food companies and also operates in the US, Australia, New
Zealand and Asia employing 34,000 people with sales of over £4.3
billion.
Twinings is an international business with nearly 300 years experience
in speciality teas. It operates from seven manufacturing plants
serving UK and overseas markets with headquarters in Andover,
Hampshire. The Twinings shop at 216 Strand, London, is where the
company was founded in 1706.
The Boxes Group majors on product presentation in a wide range of
fields - from luxury cartons for cosmetics manufacturers to specialist
packaging for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Boxes
Imaging is the reprographics arm of the Group, providing a complete
design and plate making service. The Group operates from five sites in
the UK and is part of the Clondalkin Group, an international company
specialising in printing and packaging products.
