Boxes Prestige Helps Thorntons plc to Create Special Toffee Selection Pack

Boxes Prestige has secured business with Thorntons plc as part of the confectionery retailer and manufacturer’s drive to satisfy increasing customer demand for more high quality product with added value.

The Northamptonshire-based company, part of The Boxes Group, is producing innovative packaging for the Thornton’s Special Toffee Selection Pack, which when empty, can be used to store and carry CDs.

The carton is made from 850 micron polypropylene, for strength and durability, and is colour matched to existing items in the Thorntons Special Toffee range.  It also features a recloseable locking tag and integral carry handle.

Thorntons is responding to a changing market which is increasingly demanding novelty, value and creativity and is also exploring ways of maximizing the increasing strength of its brand name and its reputation for quality, taste, specialness and suitability for gifts and everyday treats.

Boxes Prestige Sales and Marketing Director, Andrew Weston, said:  “We’ve worked closely with Thorntons to develop a pack which has added appeal to young people.  By using polypropylene we are creating packaging that is both attractive and durable.”

Earlier in the year, as part of a project for Thorntons, Boxes Prestige created two children’s games with inventive packaging in time for Easter as part of a wider programme of developing creative cartons for the confectioner.

Boxes Prestige is one of seven companies in the £35m turnover Boxes Group, each of which has developed a range of skills and expertise in specific areas of the packaging materials and labels business.  Combined Group resources include an award-winning design studio, full reprographics, foil blocking, UV/Flexo technology and laser die cutting.  The Group is part of Clondalkin Group, specialists in printing and packaging products across the US and Europe.  Turnover is £350m and there are over 50 subsidiary companies.
