As part of a major new contract for the Thorntons Spring 2000 range, Boxes Prestige is taking an innovative approach to carton design and product presentation with the creation of two children's games for Easter - in addition to providing inventive packaging.

Boxes Prestige developed the Novelty Stick Egg and Great Easter Egg Hunt game as part of the initial project brief for Thorntons which was looking for original new ways of presenting its chocolate eggs to further increase shelf appeal and add value to its products.

The Novelty Stick Egg consists of four cartons. Each features a different animal and contains a chocolate egg held in place by a priplak stake, also produced by Boxes Prestige, so that the novelty boxes can be hidden in the garden.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt game consists of a tuck end carton containing
eight eggs to be hidden before the game starts. Picture clues to where the eggs are hidden are supplied on a fifth panel of the carton. The clues are perforated for easy separation and posted individually through a slot into the carton. Players then pick a clue from the box and search
for their egg with help from the picture clue they have picked out.

Boxes Prestige UK Business Development Manager, Jon Basford, said:
"These two ideas are part of a wider development programme with Thorntons and were the result of a team effort driven by our design studio. This success has led to more business which we hope will continue into the future."
