Farmhouse Biscuits Selects Boxes GH When it Comes to the Crunch

Boxes GH are the "smart cookies", according to Farmhouse Biscuits, after utilising leading-edge technology to produce machine erect trays for a new range of luxury butter biscuits.

Farmhouse Biscuits, a family owned business in Nelson, Lancashire, worked closely with Boxes GH to produce the trays for the complete range. The luxury 150 gram butter range consists of five varieties; Cherry Shorties, Chocolate Gingers, Lemon & Fruit Shorties, Rum & Raisin Shorties and Triple Nut & Choc Chip. This product line has now been launched following its' success in last month's ISM exhibition in Germany.

Commercial Manager at Farmhouse Biscuits, Tony Birbeck, who has designed nearly all of the company's packaging, said: "The packaging of our products has always played a major role in our success. Boxes GH is a long-standing local supplier and always provides a first class, reliable service. Boxes have worked on many development projects with us, and always react quickly to the challenging ideas".

Cartons for the luxury butter range of biscuit, are each printed in five colours with a UV varnish. The specially treated carton board was carefully selected after six months of trials on a whole range of boards.

Boxes GH is part of the £50m turnover Boxes Group and consists of seven specialist companies majoring on product presentation in a wide range of fields. The business operates from five sites throughout the UK and has two companies in The Netherlands. The Boxes Group is part of Clondalkin, the international group of companies producing specialist packaging and printing products.

Farmhouse Biscuits began 40 years ago by Philip and Dorothy McIvor and now has a £6m turnover. The company has two factories in Lancashire, at Nelson and Colne, employing 230 people and exports about 20 per cent of its products. Recently Farmhouse Biscuits invested in a purpose built warehouse with a capacity of 4,500 pallets. The company is now developing a new bakehouse extension at Nelson which is due to open this year.

The Company is also currently enjoying great success with their Copper Leaf Range. Boxes GH also produced these cartons to match highly decorated metal-gift tins which have become collectable around the World. Boxes GH also created a display box for presenting the products for sale in stores.
