Ditone introduces new Fasson label concept with exciting promotional opportunities

Ditone Labels, one of Europe’s most progressive label manufacturers, is working with leading self-adhesive labelstock supplier Avery Dennison Fasson Roll Europe on an innovative product with unique promotional appeal for the worldwide toiletries industry.

The two companies have combined their strong creative talents to produce a self-adhesive label concept with a novel non-slip, thick texture especially suitable for shower gel and shampoo containers.  The secret of these extra functions is the special Ditone labelstock, DiFoam – sourced for Ditone by the Avery Dennison Fasson Select speciality labelstock team.

Says Ditone Labels’ Managing Director, David Stevenson:  “This exciting new concept will add real shelf presence to a brand.  DiFoam is textured so it doesn¹t slip from the grasp and because it is laminated with a removable adhesive, it could also be removed in one piece to be used as a coaster or part of a promotion where the customer saves a number of labels towards a free product. We can print DiFoam to any specification, by any available print process, in any number of colours, and with additional features such as hot foil blocking.”

Paul Brundrett of the Fasson Select team, who worked with Ditone Labels to develop the concept, adds:  “Ditone have certainly spotted a great marketing opportunity with this label concept – and it’s an ideal partner for their state-of-the-art printing and converting technology.  DiFoam features a really unusual face material, with a unique and tactile aesthetic quality that is ideally suited to today’s fashion drinks.”

Avery Dennison Fasson Roll Europe – part of the global Avery Dennison Corporation - manufactures self-adhesive labelstocks for a variety of applications, including promotional and decorative packaging, security labelling, product identification, information processing and variable information printing.  The focus of the Fasson Select portfolio is on innovative, often customer-specific self-adhesive labeling solutions for speciality applications.

Ditone is the sole UK company and one of only three worldwide, to recently acquire new world-class plate making technology by Dupont which increases processing speeds by 50 per cent and improves print quality even further. Ditone has also installed a new uniquely specified nine colour Gallus press which enables the Company to expand its programme of label innovation.

Based at Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire, Ditone has invested £3 million in several areas to ensure optimum service is provided. This major capital expenditure includes a brand new purpose built factory with a highly efficient production process. The company has its own design studio dedicated to – and specialising in label design and reproduction.

Ditone Labels can offer a variety of print processes for both long and short runs, including flexo and UV flexo, rotary and semi-rotary letterpress, as well as in-line screen, foil blocking and variable information printing, and the company has additional state-of-the-art presses on order.

Ditone has recently launched a whole new range of speciality label products. These include holographic finish, crystal labels, multi-page leaflet labels, credit card labels and braille and moon printing to assist the visually impaired.
