makes acquisitions
Clondalkin Group
Holdings Limited (Clondalkin) announces that it has acquired 100% of
the issued share capital of Frievaart Holdings BV, the holding company
of the European Packaging Holding Group (EPH).
The
EPH companies supply a range of plastic, foil and paper-based flexible
packaging products and folding cartons mainly to major European food
and confectionery manufacturers.
EPH
achieved annual sales of EUR 67million for the year ended 31 December
2000, of which flexible packaging accounted for approximately 73% and
folding cartons accounted for 27%.
EPH
has six separate operating subsidiaries located in the Netherlands and
Germany:
LPF
Flexible Packaging BV,
located in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, is a supplier of high quality
gravure-printed laminated flexible packaging serving markets for
convenience food, dried soup and sauces and confectionery.
Cats
Flexible Packaging BV, located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is a
specialist producer of coated and laminated waxed papers and foils
mainly for the confectionery market and is the largest producer of
specialist waxed packaging in Europe.
Hansel
Flexible Packaging GmbH, located in Dresden, Germany
is a specialist producer of coated and laminated waxed papers and
foils for the confectionery market.
Nimax
BV, located in Elst, the Netherlands, specialises in the
manufacture of labels & leaflets mainly for the cigar, tea, yarns
and household sectors.
LPF
Folding Cartons BV, located in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands,
produces packaging mainly for the confectionery, household and
personal care, food and photography markets, as well as supplying
‘packaging systems’.
Linde
Vouwkartonnage BV, located in Denekamp, the Netherlands, produces
small order quantities of specialist folding cartons for a wide
cross-section of industries.
Clondalkin
is an international group of companies producing specialist packaging
and printing products. Following this acquisition it has 40 operating
subsidiaries in Ireland, the U.K., Netherlands, Belgium, Germany,
Switzerland and the United States. Clondalkin supplies value-added
packaging and printing products to a diversified customer base
principally in the food and beverage, consumer products, industrial,
pharmaceutical/healthcare, agricultural/horticultural and
services/distribution sectors.
Clondalkin's
packaging operations manufacture a wide range of plastic, foil and
paper-based flexible packaging products as well as folding cartons.
Packaging operations account for circa 80% of total Group sales.
Manufacturing processes include extrusion, laminating, lacquering,
metalizing, printing, slitting and die-cutting.The printing
operations, which account for circa 20% of Group sales, produce
printed products including promotional literature, direct mail
materials, brochures, product manuals, financial and business
communication materials and printed plastic cards.
The
EPH operations are complementary to Clondalkin’s existing European
packaging activities. This is an important strategic development for the Group and
we look forward to being in a stronger position to service existing
and prospective customers of both entities through this acquisition.
