Specialist Packaging Group Set for Growth Following Top Appointment

The Boxes Group, part of international printing and packaging products plc Clondalkin, is planning to expand through investments and acquisitions in the UK and overseas as well as to further enhance the service it provides to its customers, following the appointment of a new head of carton operations.

Allen Jerman joins the Group as Chief Operating Officer for the Boxes carton plants at Watford, Northampton and Great Harwood, as well as for Boxes Imaging, the reprographics facility at Watford. Jerman was previously Managing Director of Lawson Mardon’s UK carton plants and has been in the industry for 33 years.

Jerman said: "Carton manufacturing is a highly competitive market and we are well positioned to further develop our first class customer service into the millennium and to improve the range of services we offer. There are excellent opportunities to further increase our market position through investments where we are looking to introduce new, proven, print and reprographics technologies into the companies and also through acquisitions - and this need not necessarily be limited to the UK.

"I believe that The Boxes Group has the best constructional and design knowledge in the UK and being part of the successful Clondalkin Group provides the mechanism for investment. We have a good portfolio of blue chip customers and are looking to develop our client list further through integrating our processes with their needs."

The manufacturing operation at each Boxes carton plant is focussed to suit specific industries - Boxes Edson, at Watford, produces cartons and leaflets for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries; Boxes Prestige, Northampton, manufactures packaging for cosmetics and toiletry products and Boxes GH, which specialises in cartons for the FMCG market.

Jerman added that while each manufacturing plant is set up to serve different markets, he encourages customers to view the Group as a single company. "Customer enquiries that come into the Group will be assessed and production will take place at the Group company best suited to meet their needs. This streamlines the buying process from a customer’s point of view and ensures they receive a seamless standard of service."
