Ditone Europe's Most Progressive Label Manufacturer Wins National Recognition at Starpack Awards

An innovative new label, developed from Ditone’s patented Tac-Tag® range,  secured two of the highest accolades at the 2003 Starpack Design Awards for the UK’s leaders in packaging.

Ditone, Europe’s most progressive label manufacturer and part of the Clondalkin Group, worked in collaboration with Creative Outsourcing Solutions International to produce a neck label for a liquid eye shadow in a bottle with a very long pointed top.

The design scooped the Seven Worldwide Award for the pack offering the Best Label. Judges said that it was an excellent solution to the problem of where to place an unattractive barcode on a small, beautifully designed cosmetic item without spoiling its image.

The label is neatly threaded over the neck of the bottle and held in place with a colour co-ordinated adhesive tab. “This not only makes the product simple to scan but also allows the label to be easily removed after purchase,” the judges said. The label also won a Silver Starpack Award in the Consumer Category. Director of Marketing at Seven Worldwide, Nicholas Mamier,  added that Ditone’s label was a ‘neat and novel solution for small, stylish cosmetic bottles.’

Commenting on the two wins, Ditone MD, David Stevenson, said: “We are delighted to be associated with the nationally recognised success COSI has achieved  with this neck label which has been developed from our patented Tac-Tag range. Tac-Tag is highly versatile and lends itself to a range of applications from toiletries to beverages, gift packs and more.”

The winning Ditone design ensures that the label stays secure both in transit and on the shelf and remains in a good and dust free condition. The label is a special construction of gloss white polypropylene with permanent adhesive, printed in one colour and incorporating a special hole and adhesive area. The material features tiny slits in the top to relieve any pressure on the label. The front carries a bar code for scanning at the till and the reverse lists the product’s ingredients.
